My 100 Pound Weight Loss Journey

Welcome to my journey! I embarked on a life-changing transformation of losing 100 pounds at 15 years old to 17. From the beginning, weight loss was not my central goal, rather it was the goal of changing my habits to develop a healthier way of living both physically and emotionally.

Environment plays a large role in our physical appearance. Initially, I found myself gaining weight due to the profound loss of my father. I also endured bullying throughout school, leading me to seek comfort in stress eating. Failing grades, diminishing self confidence, and an overall sense of hopelessness became a stark reality. Making the decision to switch schools allowed me to break free from the environment that had been weighing me down. I began surrounding myself with better friends and mentors that allowed me to focus on my wellbeing in all aspects of my life.

As I immersed myself in this healthier environment and nurturing my mental and emotional state, I began to develop healthier lifestyle choices. I went from a straight F student to a straight A student almost instantly, and a year into this journey of happiness is when I naturally lost 50 pounds. When I realized I lost 50 pounds in a year, I was initially confused. After various unhealthy failed attempts to lose weight, I had reached a point where my weight did not matter and I learned to love myself regardless. I realized that this self acceptance and making healthy changes that tailored specifically to my life was the key to the progress. I felt inspired to embark on a path of self improvement that was rooted in love, acceptance, and the desire to honor my body.

With newfound determination and supportive people by my side, 15 year old me started incorporating regular workouts and cooking nutritious meals as daily habits. Reminiscing over early childhood memories of cooking with my dad, I found joy in finding new healthy recipes that my family was able to enjoy myself. I also chose easy workouts that I knew I could keep up with daily. Many fitness influencers on social media gave off the impression that the only way to work out effectively is by torturing your body, which was the catalyst for my lack of enthusiasm with the topic as a whole. Instead, I opted for workouts that aligned with my abilities and preferences, and increased intensity and duration as I got comfortable.

2 years later, I lost 100 pounds total at the age of 17. I am now 20 years old, and have been able to maintain the weight loss for 3 years.

One day in 2020, I decided to downloaded TikTok. After scrolling through endless videos, I was quickly inspired and decided to create a video of my own. My first post would be this before-and-after weight loss video. Not thinking too much would come from my post, this video received an overwhelming amount of support, allowing me to grow 10k supporters overnight. This overwhelming wave of encouragement would become the catalyst for a fresh chapter of my life sharing my healthy approaches and tips for others to start their health journeys.

I realized that making health a priority was more than just a physical transformation. It was an avenue for personal growth, self discovery, and self love. By cultivating an empowering atmosphere, I found the strength to embark on meaningful health changes that would benefit me tremendously. My journey has taught me that taking small steps towards self improvement and cherishing evert aspect is the most important part of my weight loss journey. When I stopped focusing on people who did not have my best interest at heart, I learned how to take care of myself to the best of my ability.

Unlike the misleading and dangerous methods often seen on social media, I strive to provide authentic and sustainable strategies for achieving personal health goals. My content includes cooking, day in the life, workout, and mental health awareness.

Having experienced the profound impact of nurturing my mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing, I am committed to sharing my story with empathy, authenticity, and vulnerability. In a world where external pressures and societal expectations often overshadow the importance of self love, I aim for individuals to realize it is a necessity for personal growth.

Self-love is the key to unlocking our limitless potential in all factors of our lives. Through self-love and dedication, I embarked on a personal health journey where I lost 100 pounds.

Embrace your unique path, embrace your worth, nourish jour body, and learn what healthy means to you.”

Learn what “Health” looks like and means for you.

I had a complicated relationship with my body and food at an early age. As many young teens do, I would look to social media for advice. The health advice I would encounter was draped in a cloak of shame, emphasizing rigid and unrealistic beauty standards and practices. As a first generation girl who grew up in a Mexican-Persian household, these ideals didn’t resonate with my reality. In sharing my story, I aspire to redefine the way health is presented on social media though a more realistic, empowering approach.

Health looks different on everyone.

Health is a profoundly personal journey, unique to each individual. Having walked my own path grappling with eating disorders on both ends of the spectrum, which helped me realize that being positive and developing a healthy relationship with yourself is the only way to approach it “health” authentically.

Skinniness does NOT equate to health as the depth of well-being extends far beyond external appearance. True health encompasses mental, emotional, and physical aspects, each of which intertwines to create a harmonious state of being. Embracing our unique selves, honoring our bodies, and nourishing our minds is the key to unlocking the true essence of health.
